Jim Duquette just said that it was over an opt out. Said he know about it yesterday.

When was the opt out? After one or two years?

Duquette should have moved to wrap up the Fowler deal right away. It was announced 3 days ago, should not have left it on the table to linger like that. This strategy of grinding out every little detail is maddening and it just cost the team BIG time. Now we just gave up the #14 for 2 years of an injured Gallardo. This is a massive failure IMO.

Orioles never give opt outs. The fact that he can opt out and not worry about the physical process is probably what altered his thinking. His agent probably isn't too happy. He could have had 5% commission on $33M, instead its on $13 (guaranteed).
