Offensive prospects - Wieters, then nothing

Costanzo -- .188/.298/.271 (48 AB)

Moore -- .150/.190/.200 (20 AB)

Reimold -- .167/.242/.259 (54 AB)

Davis -- .204/.273/.286 (49 AB)

Wieters -- .438/.558/.884 (32 AB)

Tripp -- .282/.349/.513 (39 AB)

Vinyard -- .259/.377/.386 (44 AB)

Snyder -- .239/.280/.289 (46 AB)

Henson -- .279/.286/.310 (58 AB)

Angle -- .275/.383/.375 (40 AB)

Mahoney -- .224/.269/.347 (49 AB)

Just a terrible performance by the guys who supposedly are our best offensive prospects. 7 of these 11 have an OBP under .300. 9 of the 11 have an SLG under .400 (5 are under .300).

I hope they heat up as the weather warms up, or it could be a long summer.

And here's the other side of the coin. I can only hope that we draft some position prospects, or that future trades focus on this side of the club a bit more going forward. It's great to be stocked on pitching, but that will only get us so far.

I was expecting better from Moore as well. Maybe he's worried about playing solid D at SS and has lost focus at the plate???

I'll cut Moore a little slack as he has only 20 AB and had been sitting on his butt in Baltimore before getting sent down so he may be a bit rusty.

How is Chris Vinyard rated on our prospect list?

He did have 16hr and 34 doubles on Delmarva. Statistically, that is not too bad.

Unfortunately as a wide body guy who bats right-handed and doesn't have the ability to play anywhere but first base, his prospects are minimum. He'll need to show extreme power to get any prospect love from here on out.

Moore can be a UTI guy up here.

Reimold will be fine but other than that, there isn't much there.

I am not that high on Synder.

Rowell obviously has the ability but he needs to get healthy.

Really, we only have 3 legit offensive prospects IMO and 2 of them can't stay healthy.

Copy that, sound like that we really need to draft Eric Hosmer or Justin Smoak in the upcoming draft.

If some of that surplus of pitching prospects pans out we could trade a few for some hitting prospects.

This would be nice but when is this going to happen?

Many people on here think we should wait to see what we have.

So, let's take Penn, Liz, Beato, Olson, Spoone and Tillman.

Let's say 3 of them look like they can be stars and 3 bomb out.

So, what do you do then? The 3 who have bombed out really have very little to no value.

The 3 who excelled have a lot of value but you likely don't want to trade them because of the cost of pitching in today's market.

So, while it would be great to have 3 very good pitchers, you are still stuck with no positional prospects.

Everyone on here wants it both ways...doesn't work like that.

You have to identify the guys early who you feel will or will not make it.

For me, i would be looking to deal beato and Liz.

Both have tremendous upside but both, especially Liz, have big question marks about their game and both may have a prospect status that will far exceed what they produce...in other words, they are worth more in trade than what they do for us.

Of all of there prospects, the only ones who I feel have any kind of future with the O's are Snyder, Angle, Reimold, and Tripp. Maybe Tyler Kolodny in Short-Season also.
