Chaz Roe and Odrisamer Despaigne are journeymen, so it's not like there isn't room for a decent middle reliever. Maybe our scouts think that Ondrusek's stuff or command have improved since he was last in the MLB. I will give him and DD the benefit of the doubt and hope that he can be a positive addition to the club.

He was Optioned in 2010, 2012, and 2013 so it would seem that he has used those available options up. He also elected for Free Agency in 2014. You can see all his transaction here: http://m.reds.mlb.com/player/446185/logan-ondrusek

He didn't spend 20 days in the minors in 2012. He has one option left.

Have a shoulder injury in 2014. Was non tender because of it. Is healthy now.

Roe was out of options. Ondrusek give the O's more roster flexibility in the pen.

Why can't you just wait to see how this plays out?

You've never been a Reimold fan because all of the signs have pointed to him being injury prone. It's the same thing here; people are looking at the facts and using them to form conclusions - i.e. it's not a great move. Don't be so quick to judge those opinions.

This trade may be setting up the next one for Erasmo.

Starters: Tillman, Gausman, Bundy, Gallardo and Worley

Relievers: Britton, O'Day, Brach, Givens, Wilson, E. Ramirez, and Jimenez

Despaigne and Ondrusek optioned.

This is the best time to DFA Roe because he can to traded. After August 1st he has to pass through waivers to be traded which may not happen. Ondrusek's option vs Roe being out of options makes a difference.

Ondrusek and Despaigne recalled on Sept 1st.

Jimenez used as a starter vs teams he pitches well against like the A's an Nats. Erasmo and Wilson give the O's length in pen while allowing the O's to go back to a 12 man staff and a 4 man bench.
