Manny: “Thank God I wasn’t traded.”

I’ll never be over Manny.   The fact that he’s not going to be a long-term Oriole kills me, and it’s my belief that the team could have signed him long-term and blew the opportunity.

That said, I’m not someone who believes that a team has to have one particular player to compete.   If they can make the team better long term by trading him, they should do it.

The O's hosed this up royally.

Alright, in fairness to Frobby, I'm researching Heyman's claim that were $8-9M apart only a couple years ago, which would be 2015.   This is what I've found, and it's very frustrating.  IF it hasn't been since 2013, then medicals could be one of the contributing factors, and that concern should've been dismissed long ago.

“Last time we spoke was a couple years ago and the topic hasn’t come up, but I love this organization,” Machado said.

The Orioles last approached Machado about a long-term extension following the 2013 season, but that talk gained no traction.

Now it is possible they did talk in early 2016, and haven't since

Maybe when they chatted before the 2016 season the Orioles said they'd be willing to go 10-years, $300 million, but Machado's folks said 10-years, $350 million was what they wanted. While that sounds like a significant gap, $5 million a season could probably be overcome via negotiation -- even if Machado's price only went up after an outstanding season in which he hit .294 with 37 homers and 96 RBIs.

This really is Manny's one big chance to be a multi-millionaire and a well-off ex-ballplayer or to set up his family for maybe 5 generations. It's a lottery.

He's already a multi-millionaire.

It's his chance to give himself the possibility having over $100 Million in the bank(s) at one time someday.

10/300 while buying out three years of arbitration and Manny said no?

I'm kinda Ok with the O's not going higher if that is accurate.

But that’s not a report on something that happened.   That’s a hypothetical being thrown out there by Glenn Clark for illustrative purposes.
