I watched him a bunch when he played with the Braves.  He's a bit below Flaherty defensively at each position - you can get by with him at 2nd and 3rd.  Braves had hopes for him offensively, but he never lived up to those hopes.  He fell below ordinary players like Adonis Garcia and Rio Ruiz at 3rd base.

But, should be an improvement over the play of Sardinas here and since Flaherty isn't here, they need somebody that can actually play baseball.

Like he was going to beat out Ryan "Rogers Hornsby" Flaherty in Atlanta.  Sure, he was gone from there long before Flaherty showed up, but that's called planning ahead.

Though Peterson in starting at 2B tonight, he may be the O's best player to be the 3B while Beckham is out.   Probably better defensively  than Valencia.    Or at least platoon with him.   Tejada or Corban Joseph may be  getting a chance a 2B because of Sardinas has not proved to be the solution so far.
