Really, last summer? Maybe two summers ago, but I saw enough drop in stuff over an extended period of time to realize Bundy was trending in the wrong direction.

No issue with trading Gausman though, but the take we got back was ridiculously bad for a guy with as much controllability as Gausman. I'd still like to know how that went down because it came out of left field. I'm guessing it was all about cutting money since O'day went with it, but man, they could have at least gotten one upper level B prospect for him.

Extra year of control for Bundy was the key.
Bundy through 6/23 (ankle injury game) 16 GS, 96 IP, 3.75 ERA, 10.12 K/9, WHIP1.21
After 6/23 15 GS, 75.2 IP,  7.61 ERA, 9.04 K9, WHIP 1.67
If you foresaw that big of a drop in the second half, I tip my cap.

You still think this has something to do with his ankle? Even before the "ankle" I saw a guy who's fastball had started become below average in both velocity and movement and he never had the command to overcome that.

Saying that, I didn't see him becoming Chris Tillman.

I agree, the stuff is just average.

And it's a surefire bet that if he's cruising at any point he's going to give up a big inning.

Not this year, no.  However, are you saying that his 2nd half struggles in 2018 were all due to velocity and movement?   His 2017 second-half was better than the first.
