No Lou tonight, Payton in CF.

We haven't brought up Reimold or Bergy who are having very good years along with Berken. Olson IMO has done a good job here. Hoey has been injured and Liz has always had a rep of being wild and having some mechanical problems.

Sorry, but I just dont understand what you are trying to say. Lou can play, go take a look at his stats this year. Obviously double A isnt the bigs. Are you saying that even though someone is doing good they shouldn't get promoted?

How do you know if they are ready? Olson has struggled in my book. He has been given tons of run support and can't go 5 innings half the time, that's not being a big leaguer. I have no problem with him here now because he is the best we have. He has pitched a little better of late and hopefully it will continue. Hoey was said to have confidence problems before he was called up last year which he admitted to after a rough outing last year. Liz was here only because of desperation. I haven't seen Lou play, players should get promoted to the big league level if they can handle it, that's all.

Olson has struggled, but he has done all you can expect from a rookie, IMO.

It takes players time to adjust at the ML level.

No..I believe Tony wants him here.

And Tony, even acknowledging the holes in his game(holes I am not disputing) has said he thinks he could be a 800-850 OPS guy...Tony doesn't think he is an everyday player...More like a 400 at bat type guy.

But, AGAIN, in a LOST SEASON, you find out what your young guys can do, especially at this time of year.

Interesting... because I could have swore I read a thread recently where he didn't think he was ready but anyway...

I agree that now is the time to start to look at these minor league players to see what they can handle - including Reimold. Where I differ from your opinion is how that should be accomplished.

I think the O's should replace players as they get injured or play themselves out of a starting position (and the minor league player is a viable replacement). I don't think that Payton has done anything to deserve a starting position and will be very disappointed if he takes over for Jones full time. IMO this is the perfect opportunity for Lou and if can't handle it - bring up Reimold (or if another player gets injured or if a vet goes into a terrible tailspin and loses all trade value bring him up at that time).

What does that mean?
It's his text message teenie bopper language, I think.

Yes. Making fun of people who irrationally freak out, IE JTrea:

ZOMFGZ!! Millah strykkes out vs. dice-k i think he is losing against his 4mer teem wat do u gaiz think?

Anyway, I'm with SG on this one. I hate the O's at this time of the year, specifically cause the season is lost and the Jay Payton's of the world are still sucking around while Reimold is still raking in AA.

You gotta figure out what you have. August and September are perfect for calling these guys up, exposing their weaknesses so they will know what to work on this winter and how they can make the team next year.

It's not hard. IIRC, it seems that its the way the O's USED to do things back in the day.

Anyone remember Ben McDonald getting called up in '89 for a look right after being drafted? And that wasn't even in a "lost year!" We were duking it out with Toronto for a playoff spot.

I think Moose's just adding emphasis to OMG (Oh My God!).
Yea but what about the Z? I have seen that a lot and have no idea what it means...Been bugging me! lol

Anyway, Moose gets the point...Good post MM.

Urban dictionary, fellas. Use it. Love it. :)

Alright, so does Reimold get a call up this September?

And if not, does it appear that the writing is on the wall that the franchise does not consider him to be a part of the future? I mean there's no good reason NOT to give him a shot this September.

I also get the point... but I have heard Reimold is a bit of a butcher.

Ask my girlfriend who I drop F bombs about every O's game and she'll tell you that the list goes like this :

1. Jay Payton

2. Ramon Hernandez

3. Gary Thorne

4. My domestic violence loving neighbors

I would like nothing more than to see them jettison Jay Payton like turkey fat.

And there's no good reason why we shouldn't....we can't owe him THAT much more money...

Yeah - but if I recall correctly Big Ben was suppose to be the second coming of Bob Gibson and was our big mid year addition without having to make a trade. The FO threw him out there to get to the playoffs - not just to give him a test run.

I agree with your post though. It would at least make the rest of the year interesting instead of turning all attention to the purple birds.

Then bring him up to learn first and allow him to DH everyday if that's the case...You can move guys around...There is always something to do but you have to be willing to bench the old guys who are going no where.

There are all sorts of ways we could get him in the lineup 4+ times a week.

Its not some difficult task.

Hey Hammer, do you know anything about DHernandez, you always seem to omit him, as if you don't know what he's done this year(2.60 ERA 3rd in EL, 137 k's 1st in EL). By the way is having a better year than Berken and as far as I'm concern is have as good a year as Bergesen. When Sept 1 rolls around I believe that DHernandez and Bergesen will get called up before Berken does.

It's probably just that they don't want to have Jay Payton barking in Trembley's ear for a month.
