It would be nice if we didn’t have to put Wells on the 40-man roster this offseason, but I’m hoping he’ll pitch well enough at Norfolk in 2020 that they’ll call him to Baltimore sometime during the season.

If he did have to be added this offseason, I wouldn't have been surprised if he pitched some innings this September for the O's. It isn't as if they have an overabundance of candidates and he isn't on an innings limit.

He isn't a candidate to play service time games because I agree that if everything goes well he should be up at some point next season regardless.

If Dillion Tate is a candidate, everyone is a candidate.

At least in Wildcard's mind.

He doesn’t need Norfolk.

He should be in the Orioles rotation to start 2020.

Chris Lee was released the other day, so I don't think we have to worry about him.

Dietz can't find the strike zone to save his life in Frederick.

Now who will Hunter talk about as a great prospect due to his 5-0 record at Bowie the year before?

I want him to use the major league balls in AAA.

My opinions on this are well known.   I’d almost never have a player skip AAA entirely, and I certainly wouldn’t do it with a finesse pitcher.    I’d like Wells to get comfortable with the major league ball in AAA and demonstrate that he has the same kind of command that he had at lower levels before getting promoted to the majors.

I’d rather do it with a finesse pitcher than a pure “stuff” guy.

There is no need to rush Wells to the majors. Unlike Duquette, Elias has also shown no interest at all of players jumping AAA so far and has really slowed promoted guys overall.

I'm fine with him getting a full year at AA and then starting next year in Norfolk but if Elias wanted him to get some AAA starts under his belt before the year is out it's fine as well.
