The Universe is so vast, us puny mortals cannot fully fathom it.

It boggles the mind! Both the vast size of the Universe, even just our tiny little solar system, and the vast minuteness of atoms and electrons and quarks and Higgs Bosons.

Amen. All we can understand is that we cannot comprehend it. We can accept infinity, but we can't really comprehend it.

Just to change it up, I read somewhere that there are more possibly chess games than there are atoms in the universe.

Well, aren't there infinite # of chess games.  You could have a situation where each player just keeps repeating the same moves...move the queen one spot to the left, them next turn move it one spot to the right.  You could do that 100 times in a row, a million times in a row, essentially infinity times in a row.  It wouldn't be good strategy, but it would be legal.  So there are an infinite # of legal chess games.

While it took Voyager what, 35 years to leave the Solar System (though it could have been shorter without certain planets/moons we wanted a closer look at, but still).  There are an estimated  1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 solar systems could fit in the universe.  So yeah, the universe is big.
