As of today he's 4th worst all time.  Duncan had 11 steals and 28 caught that year.  Milligan must have just been thrown out on the bases an absurd number of times.  Dave Parker makes the list twice.  Nice to see Aubrey Huff up there, right next to the 41-year-old Pete Rose, probably still thinking he's 22.

Didn't expect to see Dave Parker there.  I know he wasn't a speed merchant but before he got bloated and too coked out, he looked like a pretty lithe, powerful guy that could run a little.  I know he won some GG's, probably primarily because he had a rifle for an arm.

Moose and GDavis were on the same team for the first two years of Davis' three years as an Oriole. I don't see how Davis' third and final year affected Milligan being traded.

Moose would have had more playing time, even though Davis missed a lot.  I think giving Milligan 1st base would have helped him.

Moose averaged 575 PAs those two years. How much more playing time could he have received, realistically? Truth is, Davis at DH didn't take away any PAs from Moose at 1B.

Seems like its Moot now! I am not crazy about their OF without Mancini. Since we arent winning you likely sacrifice offense for defense in the OF. I think that will do more for the confidence of your young pitchers. I dont think there is any benefit to playing IF in the OF or guys that aren't good enough to play in the majors.

I am hoping that Hays gets 50-55 games in CF and Mountcastle gets 45-50 games in LF to see if he can play there. That leaves around 80 games for Santander and Stewart, perhaps more if Mountcastle gets some at 1B. All four of those guys need to play as much as possible this year so we can get more data on what we have with them. I'm indifferent about anybody else in the OF for 2020 unless they decide to promote Diaz, which is unlikely.

I don't know how much it has to do with lack of speed so much as recklessness or aggressiveness.  He had years where he was 17-for-36 and 5-for-19 stealing, and he probably challenged outfielders a lot. And some years he lost.

I also think the data is incomplete.  It wouldn't surprise me if some players from the pre-1920 era crush the more modern players in negative baserunning.  There are game accounts I've seen from the 1910s that read like a 8-year-old Little League game with runners just taking off at any given moment and rundowns happening every other inning.

That was a very polite way of responding.  I really can't believe anyone would be even close to ok with Wilkerson being the every day CFer.  I love Wilkerson's hustle, but him playing every day in CF or any other position would not be acceptable, imo.

Wilkerson needs to play in 25 games, get most of his reps at 3B/2B/or COF, only swing against righties, and learn how to steal a base.  He is fast, and has good sprint speed analytics. He's just never developed into a base stealer.  But if his job is to play defense, steal a base or pinch run, and he can put up something close to the .783 OPS he had against lefties, he's a piece.

I mean it's 60 games none of this matters. Puig ain't moving the needle one way or the other except for a slightly higher level of fan entertainment. Hopefully we see some of Mountcastle and Kremer and that's about all I'm looking for. That and just making it through healthy.

Let’s see, oh yeah:

Think I got it. I’ll let him know.

This got a chuckle out of me. It looked like we were on track for a no-Wilkerson season with his (multiple, now) DFA and Mountcastle coming and healthy Hays and the infield set. Those things are all still pretty true except for the loss of Martin, but there's so much uncertainty plus the expanded roster that he's FOR SURE making the team just because you can stick him wherever and he'll usually catch the ball.

Well you keep sticking up for Glenn Davis, I can't help you with your taste in ballplayers, Fidel.

Did you forget to take your pills this morning?

Show us one single thing I have said in ANY of my posts in any thread where I support/defend Glenn Davis. And, no, citing factual stats proving that Moose did not lose time -- Milligan finished with the 3rd most PAs in '91 and the 4th most PAs in '92 -- does not count as sticking up for Glenn Davis or being an "apologist" for him. We will be waiting...
