Hand me a dozen 17 year old 6’3 kids that are about 170 pounds , athletic and have never watched baseball in their lives and 1 or 2 will end up a top 30 organizational player in two to 3 years if their heart is in it.

Are the Hawkeye systems, Rhapsodos and Edgertronics in China yet?   Baseball still has its Yao Ming moment yet to come.

I wonder why these trades were completed now, instead of waiting another 11 days until the offseason.    Nothing wrong with it I guess, but I’m just wondering if there’s some advantage to completing the trade now.

The timing does seem weird. I'm assuming DSL players don;t count against the rule of being able to be moved during the season if not on the 60-man?? Not sure.

No, they both had to be added to the 60-man squads of their original teams and then put on the 60-man squad of the Orioles.    I suppose that since the season is nearly over, it’s easier now to add someone to the 60-man squad and not be concerned that you’d actually need that spot for someone who might be called to the majors.    So, that explains why it’s easier to do this now instead of when the trades were made originally.    But I don’t really see any advantage to doing it now as opposed to waiting for the offseason.

Jesuchristo, ustedes se quejan de todo.  Dame más jóvenes de 17 a 18 años que pesen 6’2” 170 libras y sean atléticos.

Quit complaining about everything. Basically we picked up an additional two international draft picks that have been seasoned for two years. Hand me a dozen 17 year old 6’3 kids that are about 170 pounds , athletic and have never watched baseball in their lives and 1 or 2 will end up a top 30 organizational player in two to 3 years if their heart is in it.  Better than getting a 27 year old AAAA player or the lazy guy who road his fastball into a draft pick but never listened to anyone after and still is reliving his days as homecoming king and thinks he can still get by with that straight as an arrow four steamer topping out at 92.

Lol great post.

I’d rather have these two guys then some guy that is going to clog our 40 man and be just as much of a long shot to actually contribute.

Exactly where I’m at. Upside, upside, upside and projectability all day over guys who like Luis Ortiz who may temporarily improve a few arbitrary rankings of our farm system.

This is kinda where I am on this. Basically they are two extra young guys that I'm guessing that Koby Perez liked at some point.

On the “extra young” point, I noticed that Deshon played last year at baseball age 16, one of the youngest guys in the DSL (born 7/7/02).   De Leon Is 8 months older (11/7/01).    Deson was the third youngest player on his DSL team last year, less than a month older than the youngest guy.   At that age, a few months can make a big difference.

@Philipkinda did, he hoped that other PTBNLs are more exciting than this.  And then said Bleier looked like a character from the Dick van Dyke show.  No doubt he was listening to Chopin, wearing a smoking jacket (with an ascot) and drinking a vintage cab sauv when he made that astute assessment.
