Not saying he is not a good player, sometimes even very good, but just getting in a little dig at all the folks that like to talk HOF/generational talent for a guy that is not even top 5 at his position in the NL (current stats yes).

And if you think I'm cherry picking stats just take his entire 2017 season (.782, 108).

Generational is often misused or more properly, misunderstood.  You are clearly using it as if generational is for all of baseball.  And no doubt there are some who think Manny is that player.  But generational can also be used for a team.  Manny is without a doubt the most complete player the Orioles have had in a generation.  I don't see how anyone would debate that statement.  But being a generational talent for the Orioles does not mean they should have paid him $400 Million to stay.

I can't say I am rooting for him every day but I am not waiting to pounce on his every failure either.  Regardless of what happens to Manny going forward, I will miss him, I'll wish it could have been possible for him to stay for his whole career.  And lastly, If his career ends and he is not HOF worthy, then he had tremendous success but either didn't reach his ceiling or didn't stay healthy long enough.

Manny was an exciting part of a very good core of players and surprising short-term supporting cast--and that's what I miss.

I agree, totally.

I said at the time, that we didnt give up too much, when we traded him away.

Saddens me to think that, as him and Bundy was supposed to be our 1-2 punch for decades to come.

It seems to be the case that we got hosed on Luis Ortiz.

Oliver Drake threw 2 shutout innings in the Rays' 4-0 win over the Tigers yesterday.

Always liked Oliver, the Naval Academy guy...he is one persistent guy too...he pitched for 5 different ML teams last season...Brewers, Indians, Angels, Blue Jays, Twins  and now this year for the Rays....He has had 7 appearances this year... usually 1-2 innings...only given up 1 run.     Maybe he has figured something out at 32.

Stephen Tarpley got his first sane ever yesterday. Steven Brault pitches another good game yesterday and went the longest in an outing ever in the majors. In his last three games, Brault has allowed three earned runs in 15 23 innings..Got off to a bad start and is pitching better now. Two former drafted Orioles named Steven or Stephen.

Both traded away for the immortal Travis Snider.

Manny Machado is slumping a little. Don't tell Buck that he got a day off yesterday to start the game.Last 15 games,.161 average..1 homer(grandslam) and 7 RBI's.15 K's but still has been walking. Average down to .242 and OPS .730. Harper now has a better WAR then Manny. I am sure he will pick it up somewhat. Being at Camden Yards in two weeks should help.

I mean it's not like he is getting paid 30 million to be below ML average OPS

Good to see Drake hanging in there.  I remember us cutting him loose after a game in SD where he actually didn't look too bad.  He was not a Buck guy.
