Norfolk (23-28) went 3-3 against Charlotte (21-31).   Next up: Durham (36-17).

Bowie (31-21) went 2-4 against Akron (31-22).   Next up: Richmond (29-25).

Aberdeen (30-23) went 5-2 against Brooklyn (18-34).   Next up: Greenville (28-26).

Delmarva (35-17) went 5-1 against Lynchburg (26-26).   Next up: Salem (30-24).

I know many will disagree, at least in terms of importance, but I am heartened when the MiL clubs are winning.

Me too. Helps me find something positive with the Orioles struggling and gives me hope.

Norfolk seems to be getting better. I think they could make a run the last two months with some reinforcements from Bowie.

Norfolk (24-32) went 1-4 against Durham (40-18).   Next up: Memphis 23-36).

Bowie (33-25) went 2-4 against Richmond (33-27).   Next up: Erie (35-25).   

Aberdeen (33-26) went 3-3 against Greenville (31-39).   Next up: Hickory (25-35).

Delmarva (37-21) went 2-4 against Salem (34-26).    Next up: Down East (32-27).

Bowie has struggled over the last four weeks, going 8-16 after a 25-9 start.

Bowie (37-27) went 4-2 against Erie (36-29).   Next up: Hartford (20-45).

Aberdeen (36-29) went 3-3 against Hickory (28-38).   Next up: Hudson Valley (43-23).

Delmarva (39-25) went 2-4 against Down East (36-29).   Next up: Lynchburg (31-33).

Richmond/Somerset 2-week road trip then ensues for Baysox, while next week Norfolk comes home for ye almighty Durham Bulls.   

Let's play the Big Two against them and see what happens.

Seems like the Tides play Durham every other week.   They’ve already played them 16 times with two rainouts to be played later (going 4-12 so far).    They still play them another 19 times!

It blows my mind when people say Elias hasn't done anything.  His first year GRod and cast, on the Bowie team now, were in Delmarva tearing it up.   That was the first wave of talent and they keep winning/improving.  Each year after we have added more talent and more systems to the minors and they continue to get better.  Next year I'd expect AAA Norfolk to start winning.  2023 The Baltimore Orioles should be looking pretty good.  Elias has done an incredible job.

The numbers have fallen off some since July 4th.   But overall there definitely has been some progress.

2021 comparison

-Norfolk  24-38    (.387)

-Bowie  37-27    (.578)

-Aberdeen  36-30   (.545)

-Delmarva  39-25   (.609)

 

Some affiliates are slightly better, some are slightly worse.   Aberdeen is infinitely better obviously, and yeah hopefully in 2022 we see even more improvement.

You have to look at things other than record, though.    For example, Delmarva was a very old team relative to its league in 2019, 3rd on batter age and 2nd in pitcher age.   Stock a low A team with older players and chances are they’ll do well.  The same remains true this year, as Delmarva is second-oldest in both pitching and batting.

Not sure why you are referencing GRod to make your point.   Drafted by Duquette right?   what did Elias do with GRod to get props

Because that was the team he was on along with his teammates.  Elias' player development system and coaches were put in to place that year

I agree and those are very valid points.  It just seems like a trend is starting to emerge.  In my 30+ years of watching this team, I can't remember success funneling up the system as it has in the last three years.
