The guy looks like an absolute physical specimen trotting around the bases.  He just needs an Ivan Drago training montage.

The finish of his swing is a thing of beauty.

But I kinda hate watching it because then I think he could be playing in Baltimore instead of Odor and it kills the buzz.

He crushed that oppo field.

The power on this swing is incredible, like Crush Davis. He gets a pitch in the top, inside part of the zone and powers it out the other way. When I saw opposite field, I assumed he went with a pitch on the outside and lobbed it into the LF seats.

Nice little video piece MASN did on Henderson tonight:  https://video.masnsports.com/video/Baseball America's Kyle Glaser on Gunnar Henderson's No. 1 ranking | MASN All Access/2980

BA’s Kyle Glaser said two things in this piece that interested me.  First, they now think Henderson not only can stick at SS, but he can be above average defensively there.   Second, he said Henderson is going to get every ounce out of his talent because of his makeup and work ethic.  Great to hear both these things.

He hit a home run so high and deep out of the park this afternoon that Crash Davis unretired, walked out to the mound afterwards and told the pitcher, "Anything hit that far should have a stewardess on it!"

Good lord that was impressive. The kid has to know he belongs in the major leagues, but he's certainly not letting it bother him that he's not.

I believe August 24th would be day he could be promoted so he would only have 44 days in the big leagues and retain his rookie status next year as long as he doesn't also go over 130 at bats.

He could make his major league debut at home on August 23rd, but more likely they may hold him off until Sept 2nd against Oakland at home.

Factoid:  8/24 is Cal Jr. and bobmc’s birthday.  🥲

I'm not even sure the camera was able to capture it because Gunnar put it so far  into orbit. I've watched this video a few times and I can't spot the ball. Just heard Elias comments today about calling up Gunnar and I hope it's more than just lip service.

I know this isn't the Orioles year, but they could sneak into the wildcard and Gunnar could be the reason why. His addition would really sure up the infield and put Odor in the best position to serve the team as a late innings pinch hitter & high five giver.

It's mostly out of camera shot. You can catch a glimpse of it coming down on the upper right corner of the screen at the 8 second mark of the vid. I'd love to know the distance on this one.

Still producing but his plate discipline has fallen a bit off from AA.  Striking out a lot lately.  16 K's in his last 7 games.  4 separate times, including yesterday, where he's struck out 3 times in a game over the last 7.

Yeah, I think pitchers are attacking him differently, and probably with more offspeed stuff. I've got no problems with him getting promoted, but I also think there are still things for him to work on.

Does he have to be on the team by 8/31 to qualify for the post season roster?

There will be things for him to work on his whole career but apparently he can only work on things in AAA.

Adley is struggling vs lefties.  Maybe he should be sent back down to work on that?

    • Holliday went 1 for 2 with 3 walks on Friday night. 2024: .444 OBP, .911 OPS MiLB Career: .447 OBP, .931 OPS His OBP is EXACTLY what this O's team needs, would fill a key offensive weakness at 2nd base, help grind opposing pitching, and magnify the power up and down the lineup.  It's all dependent on his ability to throw and play 2B at a passable level. If Holliday starts to hit at the ML level, the question of who bats leadoff is over for the foreseeable future and we can go back to complaining about 1 slumping hitter or backup catcher at the bottom of the lineup.
    • This. We literally have no lineup holes right now, and Mayo, Norby, Jax lurk. Any trade discussion should center around the four most essential and crucial elements to O's success for the balance of the regular season and playoffs: 1. pitching 2. pitching 3. pitching 4. damn, forgot the 4th one. oh yeah, its pitching.
    • All I know is that Suárez has earned at least one more start, after today.
    • Scherzer still looks like a guy who would be a nice add to our rotation in the second half if the Rangers are sellers.
    • Not happening. I don’t disagree, but Kremer will be slotted in the rotation.
    • I wouldn’t either but the word here is that he’s going back to rotation . Suarez supposedly the one  to be moved to bullpen . I think they should wait and see if Irvin can rebound . If Irvin can’t match Suarez’s work, then he should be moved to bullpen
    • Yes that’s what I was asking. COC was completely off base in his comment. Judge is a great player, and apparently a nice guy. I have nothing against him, or most Yankees, for that matter, though Gil’s tats are off putting. I am expecting a bit of pro Yankee bias, but that’s ok. Also, home runs is a very glittery stat, and might sway some folks. But it should be Gunnar, at least based on the first 81.
