Looked it up.  The new CBA provides a $750K bonus for ROY and $500K for second.  So it definitely benefits Henderson to wait until tomorrow.

That's also before one counts any other statistical benchmarks he might hit for a bigger chunk of the overall $50m pool those RoY bonuses are part of.  Ideally he comes up soon, gets acclimated, keeps his rookie status and puts him in the best position possible to potentially  double his compensation next year based on those bonuses.  Orioles org would win as well gaining an extra draft pick.

Why Orioles could promote Gunnar Henderson, arguably MLB's top prospect, for a playoff push

Quote

Mind you, there's already been indication the Orioles are weighing a Henderson promotion. General manager Mike Elias told MASN Sports recently that Henderson is "putting himself in a position to be in a lot of conversations about maybe helping this team down the stretch." The Orioles have also tasked Henderson with starts at second and first base over the past week, likely to improve his optionality ahead of a call-up.

There are two key dates to keep in mind as it pertains to Henderson's promotion. The first is Tuesday, as there will be only 44 days remaining in the season. That's important because players cannot be eligible for the ensuing year's Rookie of the Year Award if they exceed that service-time mark -- and that'simportant because teams can now gain draft-pick compensation if their players win that award. The other is Sept. 1, when rosters expand to 28 players for the rest of the regular season.

He likely got it from Roch’s blurb.

Gunnar Henderson is rumored to be joining the Orioles this week rather than staying with Triple-A Norfolk, which is in Jacksonville. Stay tuned.

They posted on the 22nd at 7:57Am.  Roch posted at 4:00AM the 23rd.  So their post was first.

I don't know how legit @BleacherBirds on Twitter is, but you're correct they had it last night before Roch's daily blog update. Hopefully Roch isn't just repeating this Twitter rumor and that doesn't seem to be his style anyways.

The "is rumored" is odd. If Roch had anything from the warehouse I think he would say so. Sounds to me he is just going off of Twitter, which is pretty bad form for someone purporting to be professional press.

    • Holliday went 1 for 2 with 3 walks on Friday night. 2024: .444 OBP, .911 OPS MiLB Career: .447 OBP, .931 OPS His OBP is EXACTLY what this O's team needs, would fill a key offensive weakness at 2nd base, help grind opposing pitching, and magnify the power up and down the lineup.  It's all dependent on his ability to throw and play 2B at a passable level. If Holliday starts to hit at the ML level, the question of who bats leadoff is over for the foreseeable future and we can go back to complaining about 1 slumping hitter or backup catcher at the bottom of the lineup.
    • This. We literally have no lineup holes right now, and Mayo, Norby, Jax lurk. Any trade discussion should center around the four most essential and crucial elements to O's success for the balance of the regular season and playoffs: 1. pitching 2. pitching 3. pitching 4. damn, forgot the 4th one. oh yeah, its pitching.
    • All I know is that Suárez has earned at least one more start, after today.
    • Scherzer still looks like a guy who would be a nice add to our rotation in the second half if the Rangers are sellers.
    • Not happening. I don’t disagree, but Kremer will be slotted in the rotation.
    • I wouldn’t either but the word here is that he’s going back to rotation . Suarez supposedly the one  to be moved to bullpen . I think they should wait and see if Irvin can rebound . If Irvin can’t match Suarez’s work, then he should be moved to bullpen
    • Yes that’s what I was asking. COC was completely off base in his comment. Judge is a great player, and apparently a nice guy. I have nothing against him, or most Yankees, for that matter, though Gil’s tats are off putting. I am expecting a bit of pro Yankee bias, but that’s ok. Also, home runs is a very glittery stat, and might sway some folks. But it should be Gunnar, at least based on the first 81.
