Trey Mancini 2022

I can’t believe nobody started this thread before now.  

Trey has been hitting in incredibly bad luck early in the year.   He has a .274 wOBA, .401 xwOBA.   He’s in the 95th percentile for hard hit balls, 92nd percentile for average exit velocity, and 79th percentile for barrels.   I’ve seen at least two web gems on liners in the gaps, and just a whole bunch of at ‘em balls.    

Sooner or later, things are going to go his way.

We are all pulling for him. Love me some Mancini. I saw him play so much at Bowie, loved it!

Completely agreed.  The difference between his BA (.224) and XBA (.318) is nearly 100 points.  Usually, the difference is 50 points or less.  The hits will come.

Fortunately Bats scored enough without him to go 2-0 Saturday Sunday as the Friday night wall crash trying the outfield I believe cost the team the benefit of his talent for a couple of days.

I think it was easier to overlook when nobody on the team was hitting. His hard hit percentage and line drive percentage this year are both the highest in his career. He’s likely to look red hot with those hits miss some gloves.

Not just a possible useful spot for Trey's talent, but one transaction bundled with someone I'd like to give a month long tryout to a good deal more than Tyler Nevin.  

The last four games the Rangers starting DH's were the now demoted W. Calhoun twice, Nick Solak and Andy Ibanez.

He's had some of the worse luck I've seen in some time. Hopefully things will even out soon for him. But he sure has been awful with RISP.

Friday's "great catch" looks like it has cost Monday as well on first day of 26-man rosters.

Hyde might effectively have an Owings-Bemboom bench tonight.

I'm somewhat hopeful about the team's shot to show well this BOS-MIN-KCR homestand (even with the best pieces STILL not here), and bugging me that Mancini over Hays in RF Friday hurt Bradish's debut, and the controllable choice of simply playing him there has resulted in short-term loss of availability of a top bat.

It seems if Mancini is not better in a couple of days, the O's might have to IL him.  The loss of bench players is acute.

Trey should not play in the outfield. Too many walls to run into. 1B and DH only.

Mancini kind of snuck up on me, average up to .279.   Not hitting for much power, but I’m not worried about that.  That’ll come.

Looking for any bright spot here, Trey’s BA is now up to .289, OPS to .745, which is somewhere in the ballpark of 125 OPS+ this year right now.

They mentioned on the radio broadcast that early on his launch angle was too low, leading to a lot of those unlucky "at 'em" balls and of course less power. Hopefully he's sorted that out and we can expect some more juice.

Hopefully on a trajectory towards 2019 levels.
