Elias seems to very much believe in platoon splits, I find it hard to believe he'd trade a righty bench player. -

Can he? I haven’t yet read the other comments, but who wants Hays enough to give up anything meaningful for him? Ummmmnobody. -
From what i can remember. When Elias says something about a top prospect like "he is very close to ready" or "he will get a chance real soon at this rate" I think that typically means a promotion is coming within a couple of weeks at most. I think Mayo could be up before the ASB. Guess we will see. -

We've essentially got 7 guys (Cowser, Kjerstad, Hays, Mullins, Santander, O'Hearn, and Mountcastle) for 5 positions (OF, DH, 1B). This is further muddied by the fact that Adley DH's frequently. While it is a challenge it does afford the O's the ability to ride a hot bat and to sit the guys who are cold a bit more. This should also help keep them fresh for the long haul. As has been mentioned, Hays being a right-handed hitter is useful and he is good defensive player. I think he will play less than the others but maintains value to the team. Right now, Kjerstad and Mullins basically have to play against righties. Santander seems to be cooling off. Hopefully Cowser is on the verge of another power surge. It's a good problem to have. I actually think it's more likely that one of the young guys gets traded in a package for an impact arm than Hays being traded for not much. -

He is definitely one of the more awkward runners I've seen since Nolan Reimold. He does run hard, at least. -

As many have alluded to, it is simply incredible that Ramon Urias is here and getting AB's while Mayo destroys AAA. Defense is a factor that often gets overlooked, especially when looking at such amazing stats. However, based on Elias' comments it seems the O's have grown comfortable enough with Mayo that they expect him to at least be about average there. What's the holdup?
