But didn't John nix a sale? So that doesn't jive with the idea that the Elias rebuild functions as a way to lean up/update the franchise specifically as a sale precursor. Right? It's a nice side benefit though, just in case John changes his mind.

I'm sure there's a budget process, and probably frameworks for 1, 3, 6 years, etc.   But every July GM's have the ritual of making recommendations to ownership about renting this player or that.   My overall understanding is October/November is when GM's get next year specifics from ownership teams.

This seems like it could be anywhere in four more months.    Whatever bandwidth John might have had to weigh in on whether Trey can be traded or not may have just evaporated some.

Also, as this is apt to become an inner circle HOF length thread, do we want to undo the FUED typo at some point?

I tried changing it but can only delete the thread. Sort of  like FUED now Has an abbreviation meaning.

If the team sells before Peter dies, won’t that create a serious tax burden for his sons?

Roch mixing it up by posting a Q&A column today while ignoring the 500 lbs gorilla in the room. It's not working though almost every comment is asking about the Angelos family drama and Nashville.

Do people still get surprised about this? Roch is not a journalist and we shouldn't expect him to be one.

In the article, it says: "A sale of the team prior to Mr. Angelos’ death would have resulted in a sizeable tax hit, but a team official conceptualized a two-step sale that would enable the Angelos family to realize significant tax savings."

I’d be dumbfounded if Dru Jone’s agent had not already told the Orioles not to draft him before this came out.  You are 110% looking at overslot  again.  Any player that  believes they have a chance to be great will be avoiding this POS franchise like the plague.

I just sold my house and I live in a very nice neighborhood in a good area of Balt County.  But even out here, we are seeing the crime spill over from the city.  Schools are getting worse.  Its just time to get away and go further out.  It sucks but its the reality, especially if you have kids.

Ah, so that is why Real estate prices in US cities are plummeting like a rock in water.  Got it.

I waffle on whether or not Roch has an easy job.  On one hand, he doesn't have to dig too far for information, work hard to gain access, interviews, etc.  Probably isn't held to a specific word count.  As long as he stays in his lane, he's fine.

On the other hand, he constantly has to make chicken salad out of chicken **** and has to avoid hard questions such as this.

I'm not sure how you arrived to 100% overslot.  And any player that's coming out in the draft who's slated to go high is going to be stuck in a POS franchise no matter what.  Tell me the Pirates are significantly better.

People, to this day, have no concept of Roch has to deal with.  The constant bashing of him is done out of pure ignorance.
