No no no! It was the inverse of that: they had to sweep the Brewers to tie for the div. crown after 162 and surprisingly blew out the Brewers the first three of the four-game series (8-3, 7-1, 11-3). Hopes were high b/c Palmer was pitching the fourth game--but  he blew it and we lost 10-2. I.e., after 161 games, they were tied with Milwaukee for first place. Ended up 94-68, 1-game behind.

Really don't get the decision process here. The bullpen is fully rested, Wells is a guy whose innings you're trying to limit, Chang had hit already him hard twice. What was Hyde thinking?

I hate to admit it but almost any manager would have pulled Wells after the Lowe double. Maybe he had no one ready in the 'pen? But that's on Hyde too if so.
