1. Baltimore Orioles - $351 million

Preseason Value: $344 million (1st)

The O's seem to be treading water on the farm from those two numbers, but they've made solid progress because they lost $120 million of value to graduations, with the vast majority from the top prospect in baseball, Adley Rutschman.
 

Improvement by holdover prospects accounts for $66 million. Over half of that comes from the meteoric rise of SS Gunnar Henderson, who is now in the top 10 prospects in all of baseball. Most of the rest of the gap between those two numbers is made up by the draft class ($54 million), headlined by SS Jackson Holliday. In trades, they've added close to $10 million in value, with RHP Seth Johnson, LHP Cade Povich and RHP Chayce McDermott the headliners.

So, despite Adley graduating, org value goes up.

Also, just to note, he has Tampa in the top 5 and we just got one of their top 10 prospects.  That’s a higher ranked prospect on most other teams board.  Let’s hope Johnson can come back healthy and be what he was.

Maybe Elias actually is the smartest guy in the room.

After three decades of Confederate Dollars and questionable trades I finally feel the Orioles are run by a top level brain trust.  It feels odd but I am pretty confident in our direction.

Winning the award for the top farm system is only meaningful if the MLB teams starts to play games in October, a lot of games in October. Here's to the scouts and the player development folks! Congratulations. Now lets starting winning cause its been a long, cold winter.....like 5+ years long.

This system is under rated in the 15-30 range, IMO. International guys will start to fill it in even more.

No question the O’s have had a lot of high picks, but you still need to choose well and develop well to get to a farm ranking like that, especially since we’re still waiting for any notable Latin American prospects to get into the equation in a significant way.  Kudos to Elias and his team for this accomplishment.  I’m excited to see more of these guys reach the majors and contribute.

There was some concern about signability or at least that was what was reported at the time of the draft.  Took a decent amount over slot to sign him. Thankfully having the largest draft pool and Adley not requiring full slot made it doable for the O’s.

If that draft were to happen again right now where would Henderson likely get picked? Third? Fourth? Lower?
