So here's what I found out: Yes, this is 100% true including the statement that got him suspended. Lots of folks are not happy over this. KB was starting to pick up more and more national ass

The irony here is that Angelos and the Orioles brass are getting far more negative publicity from this than any possible negative interpretation of what Brown said on the air could ever have caused.

Personally, I think Brown is at least as good as Thorne and probably better.  Id be delighted to have him as the Orioles’ lead PBP guy for the rest of my time on this Earth.  He will end up being a Hall of Fame broadcaster somewhere, and it will be a shame if it’s not here.  
 

I agree. The guys is incredibly smooth, and is knowledgeable about baseball history. KB will be in a major market next year and will put together a 40 year career.

Palmer has more leeway than an announcer with only a couple of years under his belt with the organization.

It looked like she was fanning herself but after re-watching it, it appears that she was gesturing with her hand so to depict a convo back and forth. In any event, super weird whoever the hell Margaret Angelos is.. to be interrupting an O's broadcast to get a selfie with Brach. You can tell how awkward he is about it after:

Does anyone know the last time he called a game on radio?  His last on MASN was in Philly.  I seem to recall him doing one game there, and then not the last two, but I could be misremembering that.  If that's the case, it would fit with a suspension.  If not, then its just as likely to be time off.  He wasn't in town for the Yankees series, which made sense, because MASN only telecast the first of those three games, so to me it made sense he took a little time off given that.  But with him still not back, I'm not sure what to make of it.  The story does sound ridiculous.

It would be a shame to lose KB, he's far better IMO than Hollander and Arnold, who are both......fine.

Pretty sure they're all friends.  Didn't Brach's wife do a concert at OPACY or something a few years back?  I think they're all kind of wannabes in the country music world and I don't mean that as insult.  Just that I think they all know each other pretty well.

(On a side note, I've enjoyed Brach's contributions thus far.)

Why would you think Angelos has any sway whatsoever at the Athletic?  That site has dumped a ton of writers, no reason to believe the two things are remotely related. Plenty to criticize Angelos (any Angelos) about, no reason to make additional stuff up.

      No, as it appears to be a group think decision, where all have some input.  In the end it really doesn't matter if it's all Elias, Sigbot or Hyde or some combination of the 3, Hyde is the one who defends it to the media/fans, and he's the one who gets paid to take the critism/blame.  Either way, starting Slater is the move that WHOEVER make the decisions appears to love, so that's what I expect to see, even if it doesn't make sense based on this years performances.

      It's a meaningless game so hard to read anything into it. It could also be more of an "opener" gambit so that Davidson can be brought in with favorable matchups. For a team that believes so strongly in matchups, I don't know why we don't use the opener more often, especially when it has been effective against us.

      Both are deserving. That’s not the point. How they construct the pen in ‘25 may be different. None of the guys you mentioned have been pen guys, although McDermott probably should be. Young and Rogers are more of a starter repertoire. Armbruster and others, like Tony said in another thread, should be pen arms. You need flexible and effective arms to move up and down, while they gain experience. We need some guys with some swing and miss stuff. Adding Bautista back into the back end moves everyone down a notch, but some of the guys we have now will likely have to move on for the purposes of flexibility. There is always some natural turnover, and for good reason.

      And?  If they were buying his career stats, then they were fooled by a bait and switch.  Yeah, career numbers are good, but they don't reflect the reality of this year.  .541 OPS against LHP.  Elias/Hyde has a tendency to bring in guys who might have had good career numbers, but who are not playing at that level in the current year, but then letting them play like they are performing at career levels.  Slaters numbers this year don't reflect that he should be getting starts versus LHP over Cowser, even with the struggles Cowser has had.  That said, I fully expect to see Slater starting as that's the move Hyde will love, and will then speak eloquently at how great Slater is hitting against LHP this year, even though that's clearly a lie.
