Nah, it wasn't lucky.  C'mon.

Irvin delivered a great start.  The bullpen navigated their way through.  Felix dominated.  Mounty smoked that ball, there was no luck on that hit.

I will say it was kind of lucky that Mullins was the runner on 2nd to start the extras, that was great.  But the Orioles hung in there and did what they needed to do.

Lucky that we happened to get our team shutout on a day when their starter went 9 scoreless and needed the ghost runner to score?  I guess.  But our expected winning percentage when we shut them out is 100%.  It's more unlucky for the Mariners than it is lucky for us.

Ok I agree about that. I mean more that Seattle will generally have scored more runs if this kind of game is replayed 100 times.  I have in mind Teoscars screamer right to Hays in like the third or whatever with two men on, or the at’em ball allowed by Perez.

Seattle went to the playoffs last year and holds a Wildcard spot now, my heart isn't breaking for any Seattle fans.

Fair enough.  He's my relative, it's hard to watch ;)

Doesn't mean I wasn't jumping up and down here when he got that last strike!

It's not like they've been a bad team, they have a ton of young talent, it sounds like he thinks the future is bleak and I just don't understand it. :)

I guess, but we're probably scoring at least 1 or 2 off Kirby most times we play him.  He's a good pitcher but he's not going to carry this level of command 100 out of 100 times.

True. I suppose what I mean more specifically is that in general, when a team allows as many hits and walks as the Os did tonight (or hard hit balls as well), they will generally not win (assuming the totals on the Os side are similarly replicated).
