I really think that 8 inning performance last weekend fatigued GROD....and the foul balls ruined his start...and it was just not a good performance...

As Frobby pointed out, he had the 8 inning performance AND is pitching on 4 days rest for the first time in a while, as we dropped out of the 6 m7an rotation.

5 innings, 2 runs, 7 Ks is not a bad performance for a rookie who is way beyond the most innings he has ever thrown professionally.

The off day Monday should give him an extra day off before his next start, and I might slide him another day or two into the Boston series for his last start of the season.

The real problem is if this continues for 2 or 3 more games like it did last week. Probably not going to be able to sustain that and win the division.

The big question is how long this team-wide offensive outage will persist. In the dark years, when these power outages occurred, they'd persist for 1-2 months at a time. Even in 2012, 2014 and 2016, we ended the season with flat offense and it persisted for like the last 10 games plus the postseason.

This year, when they've had power outages before, it's been short-lived. A few games at most. But if this persists much longer, we're going to be a wildcard.
