Well Yamamoto wants to play with other Asian players. I’m betting he’d be motivated to play with Othani.

Under CBA rules, the Dodgers still need to escrow money sufficient to fund the future payments, within 18 months of when each year’s salary is earned.   Still, the deferral means that the actual cost of this deal in today’s dollars is a lot less than $700 mm.

They do, at a discounted rate, starting 18 months after each year in which the salary is earned.

Little bit surprising we’ve seen so few rumors about FA SP. Has there been anything about Stroman?

Given Stroman’s age (33 in May), he is likely the only higher quality FA SP in the Orioles’ range for years. He also doesn’t have a QO attached. He’s probably gunning for a 3 yr deal a bit below Gray, but I’m not sure he’ll get that. He had such a poor finish last year he’ll probably get something in the range between Gray and Maeda. 

If the Orioles aren’t able to pull off a trade for a SP, Stroman might be the best FA we could realistically hope for.

If you accept the idea a SP add from here should improve the Games 1-3 guys in the tournament, is this guy better than John Means becomes the basic question?

Elias of course has all the info on that "small thing" that took Means out of that role this past fall.     

For me that makes the target list short - Glasnow, Cease, Burnes.    Maybe a Miami guy if that is really a thing.

Today's Bieber and Stroman - I'm hopeful Means can deliver a '24 performance that good.
