Does the TRIBUNE just hire reporters until they get to their arbitration years?  then cut them loose?  😄

Good luck to Ruiz.  Agree he did a great job there and I'm sure he will get another opportunity.

Fixed it for you ….The Sun sold years ago. Everything about pretty much sucks now. Including delivery, customer service, etc. And the people from Chicago don’t care.

Basically all newspapers do this now.  Seems like if he got a masters, it could open up new opportunities for him outside of newspapers.

I had an internship at the Capital-Gazette newspaper in high school in the sports department.  The guy in charge of the internship spent another year or so at the Capital, and then went to US Virgin Islands for a couple years to work on their newspaper.  Went to UAE after that and worked on a US publication there, and then has been with CBS Sports for over six years in Ft Lauderdale and he’s now a senior online editor.

Ruiz could go some kind of this direction, especially online.  That market is booming now with the sports gambling section and them wanting some kind of in-house sports articles when people are browsing the gambling sites.
