Please remember to not discuss the Orioles selections in this thread, but in their own threads. Each one will have one made as usual. If one was not made, feel free to make one like the previous. I will try and keep up but may need some help as always.  Thanks for keeping things organized.

Jim Bowden?  Nice to hear but does anyone put any stock into what he says.   
 

Honeycutt may very well be a dead pull hitter but Bowden is the first I’ve read saying it and, curiously, a few of his highlights are oppo homers.

Not that you can’t get talent later in the draft but it’s few and far between.

So, this draft likely comes down to 2 things:

1) Can you develop Honeycutt?

2) Becht vs O’Farrell. (If you prefer a different player to Becht, insert name there)

That’s why he’s the smartest guy in the room, right?  Did you see ME talking to Honeycutt, had food in his mouth and grinning from ear to ear when handed the phone?  He felt they got a steal for sure.

I watched a clip of Honeycutt saying his approach to hitting fastballs is to go Center-Right field and then to pull breaking pitches.  Not sure how the results align with the approach.

Pretty much what the Orioles teach/prefer.   Maybe everyone teaches it.

He is a little better at evaluations than proposed trades, but I generally agree.

Ryan Prager looks interesting.  Perhaps a lefty version of Bradish with the exaggerated over the top delivery but with less velocity.  Maybe the O's can work with him like they did with Bradish to maximize his potential.

I found this an interesting read. They talked about Yesevage and his 22" vert on his 4S, but it won't be that in the MLB due to the difference in the balls. Just an interesting read, not the Bible, obviously.

      This is the kind of game where Umpire Scorecards really drops the ball. You have an umpire who clearly can't see pitches below the zone calling a game where one of the pitchers is a sinkerballer who lives below the zone. Once he calls that outrageous strike on Henderson in the first inning every Oriole batter knows they have to swing at anything down that doesn't bounce in front of the plate. The umpire's incompetence goes beyond a handful of terrible calls to changing the entire approach for every batter on a particular team.

      He may be a lost cause, but they don’t know that for sure yet.  They’ll continue to try to nurse him along for at least several more weeks.

      I don't think Kimbrel is getting DFA'd.  On the contrary, I expect they are working with him to help resolve the issues he's been having.  Easier said than done, but he's not a lost cause, as yet.

      I was working spring training and summer league for the Orioles at the time and the unfounded and uniformed speculation about his work habits and personality traits could not have been further from the truth. Buck's  quote:  “I said, ‘I noticed last year the whole season you walked 17 times. What was that all about?’” Showalter said. “He starts laughing and I said, ‘Understand, it’s not funny. This won’t work.’ Buck was right in his assessment but the public statement and the twisting of that comment while the Orioles were moving him all over the diamond was wrong-he was a 20/21 year old kid intimidated by an older established manager-that was why he laughed. In my personal experience he was a humble, very likeable, hard working kid and the Buck/Duquette were out of touch with younger players.  The summer league coaching by washed up guys like Milt May was a joke compared to the support the other teams recieved.
