We are seriously overrating our prospects. I'm fairly certain when Detroit called them and said we'll give you Skubal for Norby and Stowers, Elias just said nah, we're going with Rogers from Miami. Look at what Kikuchi cost.

Who said we were getting Skubal for those two? No one said that

Bingo. And now there's a gaping hole at 2B. I reckon that means Westy will fill it and Mayo is being called up, but Mayo just isn't any good at 3B. This weakens this team which already had a shaky defense. And Ramon Urias ain't it.

There is not a gaping hole at 2B. We have two top 20ish prospects who can be promoted in minutes and the hole is gone.

I randomly watched the game he pitched against the Brewers the other day and thought about how good he looked.  I had forgotten about him.  His numbers have been very good since his bad start to the season.  We weren’t ever using Stowers.  I like the trade.

I get that Stowers was blocked and never really given a chance here. But Norby was our #5 guy. Such a huge overpay but I guess Elias thinks we can fix this guy long term.

He doesn't throw hard or strike out hitters, and walks too many. We have this guy already, his name is Cade Povich and he pitched last night! His statcast numbers are NOT good. Only explanation is team control. Maybe Drew French can fix him. But it didn't work last year with Holt on Flaherty and Flaherty had actual talent.

I saw this too. Doesn't address our TOR need but I guess the money makes this work. Rogers is getting $1.5M compared to Eflin getting $18M. Appears Elias saw an opportunity to solidify our rotation for a couple years. Hopefully a bullpen arm is coming?

Please look for the forest through the trees.  You all are looking at a small sampling of starts this year where he wasn’t good and extrapolating that out over his career.

And again, as I have talked about, there is something weird going on in Miami because all of their statcast numbers are ugly for the starters, even though they weren’t in the past

Not a huge fan of Rogers.  Think we coulda used Norby and Stowers to get a different piece.  But I am not in the calls and meetings so I will just hope this works out for us.  And hope Stowers and Norby finally get the chance to show what they can do.
