I just read another post that said the problem was players "were trying to do too much" and thus were "too tight."  I'm so confused.  Are they "too tight," or "too arrogant?"  I've analyzed the situation and I think both schools of thought are wrong.  After doing a deep dive - all the analytics point to them being "in a funk."  Any high school player knows that the only cure for that is to "shake it off."

I think the stat for “when hitting the first pitch” may be the most misleading stat in all of baseball.  You can’t strike out on the first pitch, so that eliminates every single at bat where the batter swings and misses or fouls off the first pitch.  So course the numbers are going to be extremely good.

I don't know what they need to do, but they can't keep doing the same thing.  They're the ones with scouting reports.  The scouts figured our hitters out.  Look at how we've played since we hung 17 on the NYY.  We played Houston next, and their advanced scouting sure did figure us out.  

We need to do something hitting wise.  Or we can just sit around and cry and blame the "non homegrown" pitching, Elias, and the injuries.  How do you prepare for having 9 of your top 15 MLB arms currently on the IL?  Tampa Bay is having to do a mini rebuild because they faced similar last season/this season.  

The trade deadline has passed.  There's no more propsects coming up to save the day.  It's on the position player group to rally and figure this out.  I sure as heck hope they do.  You can't jusr rest on your "full season" team stat rankings.  It's not April/May/June anymore.

August stats.  16th in OPS.  14th in ERA.  9 of our top 15 pitching arms are on the IL.  What's the hitters excuses?  We called up all the prospects.  Where they at?  There's no more Mateo to blame either.  Our problem is that the young homegrown guys are underperforming currently.  The hitters are all the high draft picks.  We've sunk all of our draft picks into the hitting.

Bobby Knight wouldn’t put up with this crap. Hyde hasn’t thrown a single chair much less choke a player.

One of the things I of course don't know but it is fun to watch play out is if this data is just garbage Best vs. Best.

We can be very confident SIGBOT has studied the probabilities and knows the context this result set is against league average competition.

It is probably true against top postseason pitching it is tougher to string singles, doubles and walks together, but I don't think playing roulette against Gerrit Cole 25 times in 50 pitches is going to produce quick fruitful results.

At some point in their evolutions the Orioles Bats will make aging Gerrit Cole scared to throw them a strike.    We'll see this season if we are there yet...probably not.     Hopefully before Samuel Basallo is 27 and Mr. Cole himself is in the Official Justin Verlander early 40's.

Who would even track that? Why would you ask for that when you know there is absolutely no way of knowing it one way or the other. It's fine if you don't think a team meeting doesn't work, and honestly, I have no idea whether they work or not, but I don't see what is gained by asking someone for data on something that you know is not track.
