I was born in 1981 and didn't see it (or remember anything from that age really).  I can at least say they've won in my lifetime though...

One of my earliest baseball memories was watching Ripken catch that line drive off the bat of Joe Morgan. I was sitting on my father's recliner and my mother was on the sofa to my right.

A few seconds went by, and I sort of nonchalantly said, "Mom, the Orioles just won the World Series."

After that, it goes fuzzy.

I also remember where I was when Delmon Young hit that double. I was sitting at my desk listening to Joe Angel... I definitely yelled out loud and could hear other people in the office celebrating as well.

Seasons like these are tough. Expectations are high and they are tripping all over themselves.

On Sept. 19, 2023, the Rangers won a game. They were coming off four straight losses, and on this date, they showed up. They were 83-68 and went 7-4 over their last 11 games to get into the playoffs. Here's to hoping today we get off the schnide and get some momentum going. Stranger things have happened.

Nice to see you back.

Born in 1978, but was not raised an O's fan, so I have never seen it. In fact, I have never seen any team that I have ever cheered for in any sport win a championship.

looks like some of y'all are gonna be pissed when we win 2 of 3 against Detroit, at least one in NY and 2 o 3 against Minn.  I'd be embarassed if I were some of you....projecting the apathy and misery in your own little lives onto our O's.  This is a F upped sport and a team with talent like this can turn on a dime and start winning consistently at any time.  This isn't over.  I you're mad that your life hasn't worked out well......please don't bring the rest of us down.

While I agree and find your comment funny, maybe just say something along the line of”Don’t give up on this team” or “Quite being Debbie downers” instead of assuming they are projecting the own misery in their lives. People might take it better if it doesn’t feel like a personal attack. Either way, that win felt good and I HOPE this is finally the turning point going into the playoffs soon.

Well, living in that cesspool also known as Atlanta, I admire your optimism.

I would bet there are people in their mid to late 40's that don't remember the O's World Series win.  My dad wasn't a big sports guy and back then family's had one TV.  I don't remember much about sports before the O's coming up just short in 1982.  Definitely don't remember 1979 World Series even though I was 9.

I'm not in the group that expected us to miss the playoffs a few days ago.  This thread was a bit silly at the time, and has now become completely irrelevant.

But stating we are going to win 5 of the next 9 games as a fact, is just as ignorant as the people who think we are going to lose out or continue the tailspin to the point that we will miss the playoffs.

As much as I can't stand constant negativity, I also can't stand people who have no tolerance for any negativity, or pessimism, or whatever you want to call it.  If you just want to be a part of a cheerleading group and resent any criticism of the team, a hardcore fan message board is probably not the place for you.  Not just speaking to this poster, but as a retort to similar opinions in general.

I'm 48 and don't have any recollection of the '83 WS. In fact, 87-88 was when I really got into O's baseball. I grew up on the Eastern Shore with only 3 channels, so no early it's TV exposure.
