It will be a blast to have him on this team. The guys are really psyched.

No guessing about that.

No doubt. I was reading some old articles from last offseason, and the Rangers were all psyched at Vlad's arrival, too.

I'm not suggesting that was why they made the Series. But I do think it was one of the many things - both tangible and intangible - that the Rangers did to put themselves in the playoffs last year.

That and of course having a good batch of youngsters coming into their own at the same time. You can definitely see some parallels between their team and ours (am I stretching here?)...

CJ Wilson - Brian Matusz

Tommy Hunter - Jeremy Guthrie

Colby Lewis - Jake Arrieta

Andrus - Hardy

Reynolds - Moreland

Of course, that means we'll have to trade for Cliff Lee this season, but that should be no problem. :D

The pitching comparisons are fair (outside of Lee) but we have no comparison for Hamilton (the AL MVP)...Kinsler and Andrus are beasts, as well...not to mention Michael Young.

With that said, I think the O's are going to surprise a lot of people this year. When the worst hitters in your starting lineup are Jones, Weiters, and Hardy...you've got a darn good team.

Ok I won't question him, I'm still new so who are the guys on here who get the inside dirt other than weams? I won't ask where or who they got their info from I just want to know who the OH insiders are so I'll know for next time.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record but where did you hear about him passing his physical? Britt Ghiroli and the other Orioles Insiders haven't posted anything yet.

They won't. The Press conference is in Sarasota, tomorrow at two. And it it ain't to tell you he failed.

bigbird was our most reliable insider, but he stopped posting for a couple of reasons. I wanna say it was MatthewW that broke the news about Derrek Lee signing with the O's.

Also, if you're a Ravens fan, Miller192 always has the scoop as he works for the team. Hope that helps! :)

Ok thanks, I'm still new so I'm just learning some things on the fly. I also figured since they (Britt, Roch, others) let everyone know when Vlad arrived for his physical, what he was wearing, what his cousin was wearing, his mood and everything else I thought they would report about the press conference.

      I think PFF is grading Roquan badly because the safeties behind him are playing like ass and it's making him look bad.  If teams are going to attack him over the middle on crossing routes with WRs (like KC did with Rice) he doesn't really stand much of a chance if the safeties behind him don't throw him a bone.  He's still a huge help in the run game.   In general I think PFF assigns a little too much blame to linebackers on passes over the middle, so unless you're an elite coverage guy at LB it's really hard to grade well.  The flip side to this is that teams probably need to adjust their coverage areas to account for the fact that LBs aren't going to be able to hold down WRs for long.

      Thanks. This tells me what my eyes have seen with Roquan. He's been a liability in coverage and the fact that Simpson is ahead of him is not good for our defensive leader. Do you have the PFF grades for offense too?

      What you want is perfectly reasonable.  But you seem entirely to focused on money.  The team needs to work to improve.  I don't care what it costs, you shouldn't either.  They are going to spend money and payroll will be higher next year and the year after that.  We need them to make improvements and some of that is rightfully going to come from within and not cost much. The improvements that are needed are going to cost too, I'm not saying they wont.  But ownership and the GM should simply work in tandem to make sure the team has what it needs.  I am not really concerned about how much that costs because it should be able to be done without jumping this particular team into say top ten in payroll.

      This is the right approach. the orioles should be spending more money and I believe they will, but I expect it to be measured with less risk (ie we won’t be handing out a Hader type deal or a  long term contract to Santander IMO) improving on some of the obvious weaknesses certainly makes sense.    1x SP: Burnes, Fried, Buehler 1x RH OF/DH: Martinez, O’Neill, Profar 1x 1B: (wishlist) Alonso, Walker
