Orioles likely to name Lacava GM

LaCava was my first and I would be very excited to have him in Baltimore. The Orioles are far from perfect, but it doesn't take ages to turn things around if everyone gets on board in regards to the correct way to do them. I still believe that Angelos is more likely to hinder than help the Orioles, but he is our owner and as of right now he is not going anywhere in the near term.

I have seen enough GM's come and go without righting the ship that it is very hard for me to blame numerous GM's for "Not getting it". I think that having a quality GM candidate in LaCava and a guy with Showalter's reputation will help the Orioles, but to what degree? I suppose time will tell because I feel that LaCava is the right man for the job. I would have been cool with Dipoto leading our franchise as well, but I never really thought that he was coming here.

I am hearing things look favorable for Tony. The Stockstill thing is a weird twist; Hope that is just like a Dempsey interview.

Tony would be HUGE for us as an organization and terrific for player development and drafting.

I (sadly) agree with this... but I think we're to the point now that this hire might outlast Angelos as owner. I think it's more important this time, to make a good hire.

Absolutely. I think Levine is THE reason it has gone on this long.

I will be annoyed if the process has dragged on this long and Levine isn't interviewed.

I don't post much but scOtt it only makes sense. I think the Stock interview was to buy time until after the WS to ask permission to interview Thad Levine. He grew up an Os fan and is from the area. I think he would be the logical choice.

Levine doesn't have the experience for that position. Won't happen. You'd have a VERY hard time selling LaCava why Levine gets to be Prez and he doesn't.

Hopefully LaCava is the guy early next week and the move signals a strong push to right the ship on all aspects of scouting and development.

One thing that strikes me compared to other organizations is that our front office structure appears to be smaller than other clubs, i.e., a president of baseball operations, GM, assistant GM's. I could be wrong but it doesn't appear our level of staffing is on par with other clubs.

This isn't based on anything but I don't think we could team up LaCava and Levine in any capacity. They are both in good organizations and would need to be "the guy" to be convinced to leave.
