Im not totally shocked but I am very very sad:(

I still love Jay.He was super nice to my kids and myself.

We have alot of Jay stuff at my house!:(

Jay stuff doesn't sound appropriate for a house with children...I hope it's in a locked cabinet.

Jay at least admitted he used the stuff and apologized for it. That's the first apology for HGH use in all of baseball. While he was wrong, it took some guts to admit it and I applaud him for that. I don't hate the guy, but it's time the Orioles and Gibbons part ways, not because of the HGH use, but because he is no longer an effective player and is taking up a roster spot...

It's good to see that Gibbons owned up to it and accepted responsibility for his actions.

I am deeply sorry for the mistakes that I have made. I have no excuses and bare sole responsibility for my decisions," the Baltimore outfielder said. "Years ago, I relied on the advice of a doctor, filled a prescription, charged the HGH, which is a medication, to my credit card and had only intended to help speed my recovery from my injuries and surgeries."

Orioles President of Baseball Operations Andy MacPhail said he is glad Gibbons owned up to his actions.

"We completely support the Commissioner's program and his decision with regard to Jay Gibbons' suspension," MacPhail said. "Jay has acknowledged his mistake, and we appreciate his willingness to accept the consequences."

WFAN just reported that Gibbons will get a 15 game suspension for steriod use. Is it ok to post what you hear on the radio with no confirmation?
I got in trouble when I posted about Mark Tex going to Atlanta on ESPN TV and it couldnt be confirmed and it happened the next day. And I've done reporting work for the AP years ago, but Im not in big with the GODS of OH.........I also heard it on WJZ.....I'm not surprised with this but when he comes to ST he should be made to fight for a spot or just take your losses and cut him

good thing is that this ensures Gibbos will NOT possibly play for us for 15 games!:P

I wouldn't worry about it. He would have missed at least 15 games with an injury anyway. On the other hand he might spend that extra 15 day in extended spring training so that's a 50/50 injury there.

I heard the WFAN report as well. I think it's fine to post something you heard on the radio provided that A) it was stated by an actual employee of the station, not a caller, and B) you identify the station and, if possible, the radio personality who said it (BTW it was either Mike or the Mad Dog, I can't really tell their voices apart).

As for the suspension, 15 games seems fair to both sides, considering that he bought the steroids before there was any penalty for them and HGH in 2005 but there wasn't a specified penalty for that either. I wonder why Gibbons was suspended before Glaus, Schoenweis, and Guillen though (I can see why it would be different, and probably less severe, for those who only bought HGH). Maybe he just dropped his appeal and the others are still fighting... who knows. I hope he will come out and make some statement about it though. After all the times he swore up and down he'd never used anything, his denials were almost on a level with Raffy wagging his finger at Congress.

As for this being the end of his Orioles career... here's a question. If he's suspended for 15 games, the Orioles don't have to pay him for those games. However, if they release him before the season, do they still have to pay him for those games since he's not actually missing them from the O's, or do they not have to pay him for the suspended time?

Not just before....accoring to the Sun article linked elsewhere in this thread, Gibby & Guillen will be the ONLY guys suspended for the HGH shipments. Glaus and Schoewenweis are apparently getting off the hook completely.

I wouldn't say this is coming clean.

He supposedly recieved steroids as well, but he does not mention that. Then, he says the hGH was to recover from injuries.
