Machado now up to .256/.339/.396 overall. Schoop is at .248/.305/.368. Both have a ways to go, but it's good that they're on the up elevator at the moment.

Machado (2012): 273AB .256/.339/.396, 5HR, 31BB, 52K

Machado (June): 89AB .270/.316/.438, 3HR, 6BB, 10K

Machado (L10): 38AB .342/.390/.605, 2HR, 3BB, 4K

Schoop (2012): 258AB .248/.305/.368, 6HR, 16BB, 54K

Schoop (June): 85AB .259/.323/.471, 4HR, 5BB, 16K

Schoop (L10): 42AB .286/.333/.643, 4HR, 2BB, 10K

Both are on an upswing, Schoop still needs to walk more. I'm impressed by what I'm seeing out of 20-year-olds in Bowie though.

Machado is really in a nice groove - making strong progress at reducing his K rate - approx 1:6 ratio of K:PAs for the year, but 1:10 in his last 10. Let's see if MM can keep this up.

Widlansky is also in a very nice groove in Bowie.

Even better, Machado is only 19. He turns 20 on July 6. He's by far the youngest player in the league.

Also keep in what which positions they're playing. While 2B/SS are no longer "defensive specialists" like they used to be, you also have gauge their value/progress by their fielding as well. I've heard that Machado is a gifted fielder, and I'm sure that Schoop is fine. You still have to give more slack to a 2B/SS in terms of hitting than you would to a 1B or corner outfielder.
