Hanson has lost a lot of shine due to injuries. Braves don't usually make mistakes with their SP.

It just seems like they could've gotten more for him. And they could've gotten a decent reliever on the FA market without giving up a quality SP. There has to be more to this deal.

Apparently the Braves must have really soured on Hanson after last year.

174.2 IP, 4.5ish ERA, high WHIP. 8.3 K / 9

Still, he's been worth about 1.7 Wins / year since he made his debut (last year was negative though).

Walden has been worth about 0.5 WAR / year.

Word is Hanson's shoulder is a mess. Could stay healthy but it would be foolish to rely on him being healthy. The Braves only trade pitchers if they are damaged goods.
