Former Oriole Ishikawa signs AAA deal with the White Sox

http://White Sox signed 1B Travis Ishikawa to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Charlotte. Ishikawa was designated for assignment by the Yankees on July 11 after spending just three days in pinstripes. He has posted some nice numbers this year at the Triple-A level and should climb to Chicago eventually.

This guy has how many of his nine lives, left?

And then surprisingly no team was willing to add him to their 40 man roster. Not even the Orioles.

Ishikawa is a classic AAAA guy. He can hit AAA pitching, but he just is not good enough to hit major league pitching. I can imagine it's tough for him. Imagine being a big leaguer once, then finding out you just can't do it well enough to stay on a roster any longer yet you kill it at AAA. I'm sure he'll keep bouncing around until someone has an injury and may have a need. Makes you wonder if MLB should create one or two Free agent AAA teams that play in the International or PCL Leagues but are full of non-affiliated players.

This way any team that has a need could sign one of these players for their major league squad and when the need is no more, they just go back to the team.
