The Orioles had not had such a streak in a single season since 1989, but they had an overlap streak from 1995-96. It's the 18th such streak in team history. The other 17 are below. If you were a fan in 1974, you almost ceratinly remember the 5 straight shutouts amid a 10-game win streak that rocketed the Orioles back into the race vs the Red Sox and Yankees from 8 back on the morning of 8/29/74. Even if you weren't a fan then, Palmer brings it up all the time. -
Sparky Anderson was the oldest looking 45 year old man in the history of the world. He could have gotten a senior citizen discount anywhere without even asking for it. -

I am not happy to hear We Are Family to this day (I once heard it at Pratt St. Ale House and I was so disappointed). Overall though, I don't care much at all either way. Different teams, different eras, different players. Only name on the front is the same. In fact, I have watched parts (or most) of the '69, '71, and '79 World Series on YouTube and while recognizing the best teams lost, I find it nice to see those old Orioles greats play the entire games since I never saw any of them play in person, (though I saw them all in real time when they aired). I have no antipathy at all towards LA, Pitt, Mets or Phillies. -
