The difference is, you assume you know Flaherty's upside with the bat, when he's never been given a legit chance and that upside is lower than Schoop's THIS year. What are the chances that Schoop learns to hit this year when he couldn't hit much at AA or AAA? I'd say he's not a guy I want learning on the job. 2B is a black hole right now.

Good thing Schoop wasn't in.

That's 600 PA's over 3 years, also. He's never gotten consistent playing time due to Andino and Brian Roberts being on the team the previous two years. Full time players get that many PA in a single season. Flaherty has never been given a legitimate shot to hit.

How bad was Ryan during the first two months last year? Did he not have the vast majority of starts till Roberts came back? His numbers in his first 50 starts last year were what? Perhaps worse than any Oriole position player in history. He is not a full time starting major league hitter, imho. He has had plenty of opportunity.
