Chen started the Patriots Day game last year, might have been a reason.

He has had first innings like this before and then settled down for some good innings.

He had 32 pitches in the first inning in his first start vs Tampa...and still managed to pitch into the 6th and the only run he allowed was walked in by Matusz.
