"If we’re going to have some sustained success, it’s going to have to really be done organically."

Could be that he also follows the Nationals and likes Clippard?

Thanks. Some people take sports too seriously. They can only be a fan of one team or they will be tortured by a higher power:) I live in DC, from Baltimore.

Haha apparently the Padres asked for Trea Turner and Nats emphatically said no.

I do it b/c the saber guys frequently bully people for disagreeing with their shtick. Having more of an open-mind is probably a good thing and I think a little humble pie is appropriate.

Speaking of humble pie, whenever someone questioned the front-office, your classic go-to rebuttal was to *kindly* reference that the Orioles had the best record in MLB for the past 3 years. :)

While it's dangerous to lump together all sabermetricians, IMO this is an unfair indictment of most of those who are serious about sabermetrics. For the most part, they don't mind disagreement, they welcome different ways of looking at performance and value, and they freely take input from those with different perspectives. What sabermetricians have minded historically, and still mind, are those who dismiss sabermetrics because they don't understand what is going on, or just don't like it, or can't accept anything that departs from or goes beyond traditional ways of evaluating players.

@BNightengale: The #Dodgers have let teams know that Yasiel Puig is available in the right deal, but teams showing much more interest in their prospects.

We should be all over this. I'd trade Chen and our comp pick for him. Then make a trade for a starter like Dan Haren.

Yea that was stupid by preller...turner is a stud. He's destroyed every level in very short period of time. Overrated and defensively horrible Desmond is gone.

And he's a diva. Pass.

Not to mention lots of talk in SoCal about his off field habits. I'm sure LA accentuates that. I would imagine he would get depressed in a place like baltimore.

Lots of red flags with Puig, maybe because I'm in the area like you.
