He got into his own last year. Before that, he was pretty mediocre.

Knew him and interviewed him many times. Never went to college. They called him "chocolate thunder" from the planet of "Lovetron". He was a very jovial guy with a great sense of self promotion, but in a sweet way. He was a very good player but Ill always remember Magic Johnson jumped center against him when Kareem was hurt in 1980 NBA Finals.Magic outplayed Dawkins.

I liked him. I have fond memories of the Sixers from those days. They used to practice preseason about twenty minute from here.
