How much longer can SigBot and Hyde keep penciling Santander in the cleanup spot; I’ve never seen him lay off as many fastballs as he has this season and when he does swing he looks completely overmatched. Think he’s hitting .040 against fastballs 95mph and up. Santander has gotten off to slow starts in the past but gotta say this year it feels different. He doesn’t look like a MLB hitter right now. Sad, have always been a big Santander fan but you gotta find more starts for Kjerstad etc and move Santander lower in the lineup when he does play. -
He struggled mightily from right side rookie year. This year he is hitting .470 from right side. -
I said in the game thread and I have no data to back it up, but it feels, to me, that he's chasing a lot more as a LHB than he is as a RHB. -
I’m trying not to start a new thread every time a pitching prospect has a good outing, so I’ll use this one to say that Nestor German has got my attention. 4 shutout innings with 8 K’s for last year’s 11th rounder. On the year, a 1.31 ERA, 0.77 WHIP, 11.3 K:9, 3.1 K/BB. -
Agreed, looking forward to seeing what Suarez can do back there. -
Problem is he's going to start to pout if he's not getting the save opportunities. He's obsessed with the all-time save list. Getting Kimbrel may have looked good at the time but it was a bad decision by Elias. It was uncharacteristic and bad. He is no longer an every-day closer, he's expensive, and he will probably create clubhouse problems if he's demoted. -
Ridiculous defense tonight by Mateo and Gunnar -Mateo backed up a ball thrown past Mountcastle to get India at 2nd on a perfect throw; India himself was in complete disbelief he was out -Bottom 6th Stuart Fairchild tried to lead off the inning with a bunt base hit but Means did a great job getting to it and his spin throw got Fairchild out -Gunnar flew in the air to snag a sharp high liner hit by Encarnacion-Strand (7th inning) -Then in the 8th with Perez looking real shaky, he was able to get a grounder in which Gunnar turned a beautiful unassisted DP
