I'll take it. Low risk, high reward. Makes sense and gives us a LF whose name we spell and not screw up (Reimold)

I agree you get another LH bat that could potentially fill your leadoff spot, plus defense and most importantly within our budget

A potentially great value move for a team with multiple holes and budget concerns. This would be an exciting add if it happens.

And not that it's always a one-to-one transition, but for some perspective his career OBP and OPS in Korea are slightly higher than those of Jung-Ho Kang who just put up a .816 OPS /4 rWAR rookie season with the Pirates.

Very cool. Get it done.

If he can be had at a decent price then it's a solid pickup.

Clearly its hard to predict how his game will translate here but there is enough upside to justify the risk. When you have the number of holes we have to fill, you have to take some gambles on guys with upside, this seems like it would be a reasonable one.

Is he left handed?

Yes please.

A left-handed batter and right-handed thrower, Kim is considered one of the best contact hitters in the Korean Baseball Organization. Unlike several other Korean players who have come to MLB recently, he is not subjected to the posting process and can sign with any club. Several other teams reportedly have interest in Kim, with one report suggesting the Oakland A?s are considering him.

He seemingly is a good fit for an Orioles team that has a lot of sluggers but few contact hitters with plate discipline. And for an organization, led by executive vice president Dan Duquette, that has had success in the Asian baseball market.

The 6-foot-3, 220-pound Kim has shown both power and a keen eye in his nine-plus seasons with the Doosan Bears of the KBO ? he began his professional career at age 18. He hit .326 with a .438 on-base percentage, 28 homers and 128 RBIs last year in 141 of the Bears? 144 games.

Yes, left-handed.

Noticed that, too. A's and no one else were mentioned in this report from Sunday

"The Oakland A's are definitely the MLB team showing a lot of interest in Kim Hyun-soo among other multiple MLB teams that has also shown some interest in him, the Oakland A's are the said favorites to land Kim."

I picked it up from a comment in tonight's Traderumors story on Kim.

People need to realize he's not some small slap hitter that his blazing fast. Like Aoki. This guy is a big dude. 6'2" 200. Watch his youtube videos

Wouldn't be a bad signing. But expect more of a LF with power and patience, than a speedy slap hitter with plus speed and plus defense.

Not very impressed by those highlights at all. Looks like a un-athletic John Kruk.

Nothing tweeted about signing. Just an offer made.

Other teams seem to get news regarding actually signing someone; Orioles get news about offers.

Info says the Orioles have been negotiating for days. If you submit a formal contract, then you most likely have a deal or are very close to one.

Your link is a playlist. Second one is defense. First clip is him diving forward for a dying quail. Snags it and gets to his knees and fires a strike to 2B to double off the runner. Helluva play!
