Cowser has 4 hits in his last 28 at bats, so that qualifies as ice cold, I’d agree. On the bright side, his four hits included 2 homers and a double, and he also walked 6 times, so his .687 OPS in that stretch isn’t all that awful for a slump. As to Mountcastle, I just don’t see that he’s really had any significant slump. But this thread is not about him, so I don’t want to steer it off track. -

No way Cano is available. He pitched back to back 1+ innings and also pitched on Friday. Coulombe has also pitched back to back and 3 of 4. They should both get the day off, and ideally more. Akin probably should be on the shelf after 32 pitches on Sunday. I think we will almost certainly see Baumann in any situation, and my hunch is Elias/Hyde are looking for a spot to have Ramirez eat some innings before he is DFA, but we would need a big lead or throw-in-the-towel situation. -

I honestly don't care who we have for the 5th OF/defensive replacement spot. Actually I don't think it is necessary at all when we have Mateo on the roster. Once we get Hays back that is plenty of OF versatility and I'd rather have Kjerstad or Norby for an extra bat.
