It's amazing how some guys can be pretty effective in AAA but can't translate it to the majors.

Not really, just another prospect in a long line of others before him, that was good enough to do well in AAA, but just didnt have good enough stuff for the majors.

Flashes of what, exactly? I've seen a good 4-seamer that, when located, was pretty nasty. But he's all but abandoned it because he can't command the thing. He's Daniel Cabrera when Daniel Cabrera went full 2-seamer for that one season. It's an effective pitch, but when they start zeroing in on it, what offspeed pitch is he going to go to? A slider that he can't command? A middling change up?

Obviously the flashes are when he can command it.

I am still a big fan of Mike Wright. I think he is going to come through this season, and pitch respectable baseball out of the 5 slot.

I'd rather have the coach in with a pitching machine lobbing meat balls than have Wright start an MLB game this year.

Yes, but if you take away those seven hits and five runs, he actually pitched a pretty good couple innings.
