McDowell

Why hasn't there been more discussion about his performance? Every starting pitcher is worse than last year, except maybe Bundy who is trending worse now.

This rotation is trash. Tillman has been injured but the steps back Gausman and Miley have made are daggers. Will Buck end up with another pitching coach next year?

Mcdowell hasn't been great but Alan Mills has been far worse IMO. As bad as the starting pitching has been, every single reliever outside of Mychal Givens has been significantly worse compared to last year. Donnie was a very good reliever last year and looked like he was going to be a major piece to the bullpen and he's regressed big-time this year. Vidal Nuno isn't great by means but he had a 3.53 ERA and 1.33 WHIP last year and the year before that he had a 3.74 ERA and 1.25 WHIP. This year, he's been a complete disaster. And why does every reliever they call up from AAA look completely unprepared and overwhelmed whenever they enter a game?

Just wondering how you could/would blame Alan Mills for these relief pitchers.... he's the "bullpen coach" right? Most of em with the exception of the few we all know about, wouldn't even be in a major league bullpen (Nuno, etc.)

The good relievers have been good when healthy.  The problem is they haven't been healthy and you have a rotation that can't get past the 5 th even if they make it that far.  We are asking our relievers to pitch as many innings as our starters.

I'm pretty sure the workload breakdown isn't Starters- Pitching coach, Relievers- Bullpen coach.

When you trot out four trash starters of course your bullpen is going to wear down too.  Not to mention two of your best relievers being hurt means bumping up guys into roles that ideally they aren't used in.

The rotation is trash.  Just awful.  And it's pretty much veteran guys who aren't so fragile that McDowell should have this dramatic an impact.  Mac isn't the one who can't find the strike zone and I'm not sure he should be blamed for the fact Miley and Ubaldo need 94 pitches to get thru two innings every day.
