Through ten games, .325/.413/.525, with 2 doubles, 2 homers and 7 RBI.

Time to give the Braves a phone call?

Really wouldn't mind seeing him in RF again.  Probably need them to take Trumbo though and I'm not sure that will help things that much.

Nick is one of my all-time favorites, but I’m not living in the past.

OK, that's a valid move to make.

Then what happens with Trumbo, Pedro, Valencia?     Do we then jettison one of them and have a platoon DH situation?

I'm looking at trying to slightly improve the present, and help our payroll flexibility for 2019.

Past 4 years - Trumbo has been worth around 3 WAR

Past 4 years - Markakis has been worth 6 WAR

Markakis is making less money, AND we would not be committed to him beyond 2018.   Neither one is an elite defender at this point, so I think that's basically a wash or maybe Nick is slightly better.   Markakis has never lost his OBP abilities.....something this team sorely needs.

Plus we'd be out from Trumbo's contract for next year.   I'm just pointing out it's not a crazy idea, we could use some payroll help.   I guess the risk is that Trumbo remembers how to hit again after a really bad 2017.

If I have the keys I'm cutting guys and bringing up kids.

Maybe Stewart in left, Jones in Center, Hays in right with Mancini at DH, Pedro at Norfolk and Trumbo on the streets.

Alright, I should've have anticipated that.........you've made it clear you're pro tanking this year to build for the future.  Bringing up kids to see what they got, etc.   That's a fine intellectual experiment to ponder in the realm of the hypothetical, but we know it has no basis in reality in terms of how Duquette and Buck are running the team this year.

I should've phrased it this way:

If you were in charge of the current roster AND you were planning on competing for a playoff spot, what would you do?

Bonus question #2.   Who do you think accumulates more bWAR this year, Nick or Trumbo?

I think there is a fair chance that a team with Stewart and Hays in the outfield and Mancini at DH is better than what they are currently putting out there.

I expect Nick to put up a positive rWAR this year.

I do not expect Trumbo to put up a positive rWAR this year.

Fair enough.

So it seems like you actually agree with me about the Nick vs Trumbo thing and were just trolling.  Thanks.......wish we could've figured that out a bit earlier on tho.
