Tony, is there anyway you could create a new column on that page to indicate what level the player is starting at.

Hey Tony,

Any scoop on the HS kids????? What's you gut feeling after speaking with Jordan?

Everything is on schedule right now. The guys like Bundy, Martin and Landers are not going to get done until later this summer if they do get done at all.

I just got off the phone with Joe and the only guy that has changed his tune since getting drafted is the 10th rounder Herrmann. The Orioles believed they had an agreement with him before they took him but apparently the players has had a change of heart.

If I were him, I would get my professional career going, but hey, he won't be the first 10th rounder to go back if he doesn't sign, and none have come back to haunt the O's yet.

Tony, how does it work with these guys? How much of this is negotiating tactics?

Does JJ make a starter offer to them to guage interest?

Does JJ make a quality offer now and then see how it plays out over the summer?

Are we going to hold a workout later in the summer and then make a final decision/offer?

Do we let this simmer over the summer and let the prospect think about college or the $?

I guess these are treated on a case-by-case basis, but I would prefer to sign them sooner than later.

They generally know what the players are looking for so Joe and his scouts will evaluate them during their summer league seasons and determine whether they make an offer or not.
