Do you think re-signing Tillman was Duquette's idea?  I don't, I think at best is was a price he agreed to pay in order to sign two decent FA pitchers.

I don't think anybody here knows who was responsible for the decision to resign him. We have at least a 5 headed colossus making personnel selections. Who was it? Please raise your hand so we could know who to congratulate or blame.

He was top 75 when the season started.  Do you think he was top 75 when he was traded?  I'd say some luster had faded from that rose during the season.

Are you saying he would have remained bad if he stayed in the Orioles organization?

If so, how do you reconcile that with the fact that he's at least a competitive ML pitcher for the Red Sox?

Might that outcome, combined with the mounting pile of failed pitchers in our organization throughout the decade, be an indictment of our inept coaching staff? When does the evidence become too much to ignore?

You could be right, but the GM gets the blame in my book anyway.  Dan’s name is still on the GM door.  Until he comes out  and says “You know what, I didn’t have anything to do with that”, then he gets tagged with it.  If he is going to stay in a job where he doesn’t make any significant decisions just for the money, then he gets the blame too.   Package deal.
