I'm sure AM will address this situation in due time, but it's not like there's a "Big Lots" out there on 33rd street with capable short stops just sitting there waiting for the phone to ring.

And, again, I'm sure a big reason AM didn't prioritize getting a SS (I think it's a rather important position) is b/c he trusted DT's and others' opinions that LH (and maybe Fahey and/or Bynum) cd hold down the position. I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that the O's were surprised and set to scrambling once reality became clearer.
