I think analytics would tell us the best strategy to keep Davis’s WAR from dropping too far is to play him less. Also would result in less strikeouts.

Actually........ a dead cat would be an improvement over Davis. You bat him leadoff 162 games. No pitcher could throw 3 strikes to a 6 inches high dead cat lying on the ground. He walks, you pinch run Mullins for the rest of the game. DC (Dead Cat - the inverse of CD...) DC has 162 PA - 0 AB, 162 BB. Infinity 0.000 BA, 1.000 OBP, 1.000 OPS. Gotta be worth 0.0 WAR at least.

Trouble is doesn't the dead cat have to walk to 1B before you can PR for him?
